Itchy, itchy Hannah

Hannah stayed home today from school because she has had an allergic reaction to something. Well, we think we have pin pointed what it is. She recieved this really neat Spa Kit from her Aunt for Christmas. You can make your own perfume, lip gloss, bath fizzies and more. It really is so neat, it has a fountain and everything. So we finally pulled it out of the package to make some girly stuff and had lots of fun. We made the almond honey lipgloss and the fruity perfume, that surprisingly smells good. Yesterday morning she dabbed the perfume on her wrist before going to school, so excited to be using her very own :)

When she got home she showed me a spot on her arm and said that it had been itching all day. It looked just like a mosquito bite so we put some cream on there and thought nothing else about it. Then last night while working on her science project we noticed her itching even more and she kind of moved her shirt a little and then we saw red welps (sp) all over her tummy! I, of course, knew right off that she was having a reaction to something. I went down the list of things she had eaten for the day and thinking if we had changed anything like laundry soap or what type of shirt she was wearing for that day...but couldn't come up with anything that could've caused it. So I gave her benedryl, drowned her in calamine lotion and later she had an oatmeal bath to calm the itching and swelling. Afterwards, it did look much better and I figured by morning it would be gone. I even went in her room and checked her last night before I went to bed and it looked to be mostly gone. Awesome!

NOT! This morning when I went to wake her, I raised her shirt up first and it was much worse!! Yikes, no school for sure today. Later, Hannah mentioned the perfume that she had used yesterday morning and I thought, I bet so. We went ahead and took her to the doctor just to make sure she didn't need something more powerful then benedryl, as the morning had progressed the rash had gotten worse. The doc of course said continue with the bendryl and let it run its course and she agreed that it was the perfume she had used and not to use it anymore. Bless her heart, she has been miserable. Itching, swelling, burning, tingling...not a happy camper at all. Hopefully it will be gone soon! Here are a few pics of her but not all because she wouldn't be very happy if I put the ones of her torso on her :)
